On Sunday afternoon, Jess and I walked from the Museum of London (where we saw the Sherlock Exhibition, more on that soon) via Bank and to the Tower of London where we saw the poppies. The display is to mark 100 years since the start of World War I and although they are now being dismantled, but there are still more than enough to make an impact. What an impressive scene.
It was dark by the time we got there, which made it even more moving. And as we walked by the Thames, I was struck once again by the beauty of my home town.[caption id="attachment_791" align="aligncenter" width="940"]

I love the nighttime pics of the poppies, I haven't seen any of those yet. And the tower bridge. I haven't been to London since 2005, I really should come back... I lost all of my photos from it anyways! It's a fabulous city!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is - so much to see and do! Thanks for your comment.
ReplyDeleteI've been so moved by the photos of the poppies. It must be nice to be in London in time to see them. I really enjoyed the picture of the bridge as well. It makes me realize how long it has been since I've visited London (2002) and how much the skyline has changed.
ReplyDeleteThey really are beautiful and I was desperate to see them - so glad I did.
ReplyDeleteaw i missed out on seeing the poppies by one day :( next time!
ReplyDeleteI went to go and see these so many times, I couldn't get enough and now I have my own one at home x
ReplyDeleteThat is fantastic. I tried to get one, but too late! What a thing to treasure
ReplyDeleteThey are still there, but being taken up all the time. I think they won't be gone til the end of the month.
ReplyDeleteWow! I have been to London before but didn't even know poppies would be in bloom near the Tower of London.
ReplyDeleteThey're ceramic poppies as part of an art display commemorating World War I. And they are fantastic
ReplyDeleteI just never got around to seeing the poppies which I feel a little bad about as I had plenty of opportunity. I like the sound of the Sherlock exhibition, look forward to reading more.
ReplyDeleteWe love London so much too, for all the same reasons as you, I feel so lucky to live here and to get to experience everything that the city offers :-) The poppies exhibition was just outstanding.
ReplyDeleteYes it was so moving, and London itself has so much to offer.
